Philippians 4:12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know
what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any
and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in
want.
One of my neighbors who lives on Old Jonesboro Road “mows”
his lawn with a weed eater. I don’t know
if he doesn’t own a lawnmower or if his isn’t working. Still, I appreciate the
fact that he doesn’t deter him from keeping his yard looking nice. Sometimes we can’t afford something we need
or would really like to have. Like Paul
and my neighbor we can learn to make do and to be content in every
situation. This morning on “The Doctors”
one of their guests gave suggestions from her book, “Bliss Happens.” It’s filled with little, inexpensive
suggestions to make life easier and more blissful. She’s learned to be intentional in thinking
about how to appreciate simple things that can bring contentment. I think I’ll order the book! In the meantime, I will try to be like Paul,
trusting Jesus as the Ultimate in my life.
Holy God, help us to be content whether we have little or
all that we need. We acknowledge that
you are the one who gives us the ability to provide for ourselves. Help us to seek your ways so that we may walk
in peace and contentment. In Christ’s
name we pray. Amen.
