Psalm 95:3-5 (NIV)
For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth, and
the mountain peaks belong to him.
Joe and I love the mountains and discovered this week that
Franklin, NC has many panoramic long range mountain views. You can see layer
upon layer of mountains that go from green to blue to dark gray the further
away they get until they finally blend in with the sky. We went to an old stone
tower at the top of Wayah Bald where there was an almost 360° view. We had never been to this
place before and were so happy to find a new spot to explore. Even around town we would round a corner and
be confronted with beautiful views. We found that for the most part we could get
better views in the valley than when we headed up the mountain. It reminded me of our searching for God. Often it’s when we are in the valleys of our
lives that God seems to suddenly be the nearest. Could it be that we spend more time looking
for God then?
God of sea and sky
and mountain, thank you for the beauties of nature. Thank you for meeting us on the mountain tops
and also in the valleys. Bless us this
day and this week. In Christ’s name we
pray. Amen.
Have a very blessed week,
Paige
