Monday’s Devotion: A Prayer for the Day

Psalm 9:1-2  I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name,  O most High.

I’m on vacation this week! In an hour or so I will head for the NC mountains.  The cabin supposedly has Wi-Fi and I want to keep in touch, however I may take a vacation from writing daily devotions.  I love sharing them with you but it can be quite a bit of pressure to come up with something thoughtful and original each weekday to share.  One of the many books and magazines I’m taking with me is a book of prayers, Quiet Spaces by Patricia Wilson.

Here is one of her prayers and a good one for you to have this week:

“Here is today, O God.  I don’t know what this day will bring although I like to think that I do. I have my schedule, my to-do list filled in, my agenda duly noted. I like to think that I have this day under my control. But I know that’s not how most days go. I know that today I will be surprised by sorrows, joys and challenges. I know that today I will face both problems and adventures. I know that today might be just an ordinary day or it might be the most extraordinary day of my life. And I know that you are the only one that knows what lies ahead. So I offer this day to you.

Here is today, O God. I give it to you, trusting that you will take whatever happens in this day, and use it for your glory. I trust that whatever happens today, you will be with me. Thank you for this day and its endless possibilities. Thank you that I can face this day with you.

Here is today, O God:  a part of all the days we have spent together, a part of all the days to come, a part of who I am and where I am on my journey, a part of the plan that you have for me. Take this day, use it for your glory.  Thank you, God.  Amen.

Have a great week!

Paige
