Tuesday’s Devotion: The Really Important Stuff

Ecclesiastes 2:10-11 I denied myself nothing my eyes desired; I refused my heart no pleasure. My heart took delight in all my labor, and this was the reward for all my toil.
Yet when I surveyed all that my hands had done and what I had toiled to achieve,
everything was meaningless, a chasing after the wind; nothing was gained under the sun.

So much on TV today is just banality.  Jersey Shore, Say Yes to the Dress, The Bachelorette.  That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Too many shows are about self-centered people seeking to please themselves.  There's no mention of God as creator or of the importance of God in a person’s life. It is the dress that's most important in a wedding ceremony now, not the vows.  God as our Creator is important in our lives.  When we get caught up on all the minute details, we need to stop and focus on the thing that really matters.

Holy God, help us to focus on you today and not all the details of our wants and needs.  Help us to realize that if we seek your kingdom first, all our needs will be filled.  Help us discern between needs and desires. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Have a good day,
Paige
