Friday’s Devotion – Lessons From Wonderland

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

I watched Alice in Wonderland the other night.  It was the new version with Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. Alice kept saying that she must be in a dream.  The creatures and situations she was encountering were just too unbelievable to be true.  Pinching herself didn’t wake her up. Eventually she understood that no matter how surreal her situation it was very real. Once she did that Alice was prepared to move forward and accept the job of defeating the evil ones.  Sometimes we fall into troubles so bad we can hardly believe they’re real.  But we must face the facts then shoulder the responsibility of trying to find our way back to happiness.  Alice had a magical sword.  We have the power of the Holy Spirit.  If we hang in there and believe, we like Alice can and will claim the victory.

We need you every day Holy God, in our joy and in our darkest hours. Give us strength and wisdom as we trust in you.  We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Have a great day and weekend!
Paige
