Isaiah 40:31(CEB) But those who hope in the Lord will renew
their strength; they will fly up on wings like eagles; they will run and not be
tired; they will walk and not be weary.
I bought a new pair of running shoes yesterday. I had about
500 miles on my old ones and though they seemed like new, the gel begins to
break down between 400 and 500 miles. In
the interest of full disclosure those shoes see more walking than running. I do
know from past experience and conversations with runners that when really
running, after a while it’s not uncommon to hit what is commonly known as “the
wall.” At that point your lungs and body
say to stop. But if you dig down a little deeper and get through the wall, you
actually get a new burst of energy and can go on much further. Runners who
train diligently expect this and persevere.
We may hit many walls in our personal life, too. If we have trained
spiritually we too can persevere.
Hitting the wall doesn’t have to be the end of the road. It can lead to
winning the race if we don’t give up.
Dear Lord, help us to keep our trust in you so that when we
face the impossible, we can know that with you all things are possible. We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Have a blessed day,
Paige
