Monday’s Devotion: Step by Step

Colossians 1:11-12 (NLT)  We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy,  always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.

Do you ever just get overwhelmed by things you think you need to do?  It happens many times to us.  I don’t keep to-do lists because they make me feel that way sometimes.  I may make a mental list of what I might want to accomplish each day – I can handle that.  I learned a long time ago about small steps.  In accounting, if something is out of balance, we go back to the last time it was in balance and work forward entry by entry.  In choir to learn a new song, one perfects it in sections. We pay off debt bit by bit.  In our faith walk, we learn to trust God a little at a time.  Sometimes we have to take baby steps towards our goals, but it is important to have those goals and to keep moving forward. Ask God to help you and step by step, little by little you will reach your destination.  As the old saying goes, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”

Holy God, we begin a new week today.  Please give us strength and keep us moving forward.  Help us to finish the old before taking on the new.  Give us wisdom and discernment, energy and excitement about the precious life we wake with each day.  In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.

Have a blessed week!
Paige
