Tuesday’s Devotion –
Godly Guidance
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate
us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 NIV
My Lenten sermon series theme is wandering in the
wilderness. Last week we defined our
wilderness as places of anxiety and despair. They are places out of our comfort
zone. In my sermon “Where Am I?” I spoke
about recognizing that we are lost from God and need to turn towards God. We need to ask where we are and where we
would like to be. This Sunday we ask,
“Who Will Be Our Guide?” The scripture
above says that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Scripture describes God as our light and our
salvation. With God as our guide we
should be able to stay on the right path.
Yet there aren’t clear, definite instructions on how to hear God and
feel God’s guidance. This week in
preparation for the sermon or perhaps a message you might hear elsewhere if you
aren’t in Hapeville, let’s meditate on how we hear God speaking to us.
Holy God, help us to hear what you are saying to us as
individuals and as a church. Bless us
today and guide us along the right path.
We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.
In Christ,
Paige
