Thursday’s Musings: Keeping Friends Close

Proverbs 27: 9 Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; so does the sweetness of a friend's counsel that comes from the heart.

Joe and I are enjoying Annual Conference, not just for the meetings and worship but also because we can reconnect with friends whom we see infrequently during the year.  Kim, Cyndi, Pam and I all say we should get together more often and yet our busy schedules keep getting in the way.  One of the retirees said he wished he had spent more time with people and less time with the administrative end of the UMC.  If there are people in your life whom you life but haven’t seen in a while think about getting together with them.  Friendships are an important part of life. If we don’t cultivate friendships during the good times, we won’t have them when times get tough. We need them in both!

Thank you for friends, Lord.  Help us to be friends and to have friends. We ask in the name of your Son who calls us his friends. Amen.
Blessings,
Paige
