Wednesday’s Musings: Teflon Faith

Updated and used 7/6/20

Ephesians 6:10-11 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil.

One of my favorite kitchen tools is our non-stick egg poacher. It sits in our smallest skillet. I do still spray the egg holders with a little olive oil.  I add the eggs to the depressions, season them then add water to the pan and cover it.  A few minutes later I have perfect eggs that slide right out.

I’ve been preaching on faith these past weeks. The whole armor of God as described in subsequent verses including Truth, righteousness, faith, salvation and the Spirit will help us repel the temptations of the Devil. We can let all the Devil says to us simply slide right off.

Shakespeare’s Hamlet tried to work out what to do about his challenging predicament:
“To be or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles
And by opposing, end them.”

Because of our faith we know that we can do the latter with God’s help, armed with God’s whole armor.

Thank you, God for your protection against evil.  We pray that you will keep us strong and armed with all the tools of power that you so graciously give us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Happy Wednesday!
Paige
