Tuesday’s Devotion: Many Gifts

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

She walked into the nail salon yesterday wearing olive drab and black combat boots with a service weapon strapped to her leg and all sorts of accessories attached to her belt. Her arm patch said Atlanta Police Department. She said she wanted her eyebrows waxed.  I tried not to giggle because it just struck me as somewhat incongruous.  I didn’t want to be sexist.  I knew that in civilian clothes without all the hardware she would be an even more attractive woman. I really admire men and women who step out of traditional roles and follow their calling.  We all do have different skills and gifts. We’ll be most fulfilled when we can use those gifts to earn a living and also use those gifts to serve Jesus Christ.  How are you doing with this?

Gracious God, thank you for our gifts and talents. We ask for opportunities to use them to bring us an abundant life and to serve you.  Guide us in all we do.  We ask in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Blessings,
Paige
