Wednesday’s Devotion: Pedaling Along

John 8:12  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Our next door neighbor Kyle loves to ride his bicycle.  He has a tandem attachment that allows his daughter Skye to ride behind him.  Yesterday they passed me as I was on my morning walk. He told me once that Skye doesn’t want him to go too fast.  She becomes a little scared if he does.  I noticed that she has own set of pedals and was pedaling  along with her dad as they went down the hill on Old Jonesboro Road. Maybe she’s getting a little more comfortable.  Thinking theologically, God often takes us in places that seem a little scary at first.  We’re asked to visit the sick, feed the poor, witness about his Son and love the unlovely.  At first we may just follow God, learning as we go to trust God.  As we gain experience doing that we then begin to pedal along.  The rewards of the ride are beyond measure.

Heavenly Father, thanks for leading us into ministry and help us to gain trust in you.  Bless us and keep us each day.  We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Blessings,
Paige
