1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares
for you.
Psalm 15:22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Psalm 15:22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
I like both these scriptures. They tell us to turn our problems and concerns
over to God and God will take care of us.
However, that’s easier said than done sometimes. How does one do that? We can certainly tell God we are burdened
with worries about this or that. What is
your worry? But does that make it go
away? Sometimes it might. Sometimes God may reveal that this is not
something worth worrying over. Other times, though we talk to God but find the
anxieties as strong as ever. Perhaps
then, the problem is within. The translations
I’ve used for both scriptures uses the word “cast.” It makes me think of fly fishermen standing
in a mountain stream casting for trout.
Their fly is at the end of a line. They cast the fly into the water then
skillfully reel it back in. Maybe that’s
what we are doing with our anxieties. We
give them to God but then we reel them back in.
We don’t let them go.
Holy
God please hear our pleas for help with our anxieties. We ask for peace. We ask that you give us ways in which we may
solve our problems and if it is beyond our abilities or control to truly turn
them over to you trusting in your loving care.
In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
