Wednesday’s Musings: Respecting Borders

Psalm 1:1-2  CEB The truly happy person doesn’t follow wicked advice, doesn’t stand on the road of sinners, and doesn’t sit with the disrespectful. Instead of doing those things, these persons love the Lord’s Instruction, and they recite God’s Instruction day and night!

Current news is filled with stories of unaccompanied children from Central American countries crossing our borders. It is a huge humanitarian and financial problem for everyone. People are especially concerned for the safety of the children. Reports show that the trip is expensive, dangerous and many children have been physically and sexually abused by their transporters.  Our desire is that foreigners respect our borders. This Psalm talks about borders that God sets for us.  As parents, Joe and I tried to set boundaries for our sons.  Although not always appreciated they were established because we loved them and wanted them to be both happy and safe.  Let’s remember that God’s laws are the same. God sets them because of his great love for us and his desire for our well being.  Each time we step across a boundary set by God, we are risking damage to both our body and soul.

Our Father, thank you for setting boundaries for us.  Day by day please help us to see them and to stay within them. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Blessings,
Paige
