Friday’s Devotion: Undoing Christmas

Matthew 28:19-20 (CEB)  Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.”

Today I am going to hopefully make large inroads in taking down our Christmas decorations.  We used to do it between Christmas and New Years Day but now we use that week to visit our grandchildren.  The first week back is simply too busy catching up to take on this project. Like my friends, I love to decorate for Christmas but not so much taking it down. A friend said yesterday that we are spurred on by the anticipation of the season when we decorating. Now all that is past.  Yet I’m going to try to encourage myself today by reminding me as I pack away each ornament or decoration that while Christmas is gone, Christ is still with me.  I like new Common English Bible translation of this verse. I am with you every day – not just during the important Christian holidays.

Unto you, Christ we bring our praises. Help us to continually sense your presence in our lives.  We ask in your holy name, Amen.
Have a great weekend!
Paige
