Psalm 5:11 But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let
them sing joyful praises forever. Spread your protection over them, that all
who love your name may be filled with joy.
I saw an advertisement for a new Nicolas Spark’s movie this
morning. I will not be attending. As a matter of fact after reading a Spark’s
novel and attending another movie based upon one of his books, I decided to
avoid his works altogether. You see, it
seems he specializes in unhappy endings.
A defender will say that this simply reflects real life; there are many
unhappy endings in life. That is true;
and I’ve certainly had my share yet this is why I won’t voluntarily make myself
sad when I don’t have to be sad. God
does want us to have joy in our life and I choose to focus, not on everything that
is wrong in my life or in the world but everything that is right – and there’s
a lot of that! Today let’s find
something to rejoice about and something that will make us laugh. We will all
watch sad movies and read sad books sometimes; but even then it’s wonderful to
know that we have a God who continually stretches out his hand toward us to
lift us up.
We praise you this morning Lord for the joy you prepare for
us. Help us through both the happy and
sad times. Help us to lift others up
also. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Have
a joy-filled week!Paige
