Tuesday's Devotion: Everything Born Anew

1 Peter 1:3-5 (NRSV) A Living Hope  Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  and into an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,  who are being protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

A new year has been born and by tradition many people use the turning of the year to take time to examine their life and to make resolutions or set goals for improvements. I personally like this custom.  So many people just go through life without much thought about that.  As a Christian, though I’m happy to acknowledge that we emphasize the God-given opportunity for new birth at any time. I’m looking forward to my sermon series for this month: God Gives us January.  Each week we’ll examine facets of the opportunities for self-reflection and change. Sermon titles are: The Story Continues . . Gifts For a King; Blessed for Success; Would you Change?; and You Might be a Christian if….

Wherever you are I hope you do take some time to ask God through sincere prayer how God might want you to live out this New Year.

Holy God, thank you for each new day and new year of our life.  We pray that this year will bring health, happiness, success and in and through all things bring us closer to you.  We ask in Jesus’ name, Amen.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Paige
